Mission, Vision and our DNA
We are the Association Circulair Friesland: determined to be one of the most circular regions in Europe by 2025 and a role model for the next generation.
Mission
Our mission is to realise one of the most distinctive circular transition agendas with the association in 2025 on a number of specific topics in the region. This makes us stand out as a powerful transition region. We want our approach to inspire others in the region and in Europe. Circulair Friesland ensures regional and (inter)national visibility and provides opportunities to experience regional successes.
Vision
The regional scale is a good scale to accelerate the circular economy – local is too small and national is too far away. We see that it is difficult for us to compete economically with the large clusters in the Netherlands (Schiphol, Port of Rotterdam, Brainport Eindhoven), but we work using our own strengths. With our own regional strategy, especially in the circular economy, we as Friesland and the North can distinguish ourselves nationally and internationally. We believe that a large part of the circular transition can best take place in the region. The basis of our association’s community is in Friesland. It is unique that so many parties in one province, in one region, work together and are committed to a circular economy. We immediately take concrete action and put our money where our mouth is. Our Frisian DNA sets us apart from the rest. And as the North, our size is large enough to allow us to set up and further develop major international innovations and developments; at the same time, we are small enough that we know each other and can easily meet, which promotes the necessary innovation.
DNA
What makes us strong and unique is that as an association we organise and implement the collective learning process of this transition from the bottom up. We, the members, know why a Circular Economy is important for Friesland, as an important pillar of the regional Blue Delta strategy aimed at Broad Prosperity. We see Circular Economy as more than just an ideology. It offers society ecological, social and financial added value. We know what we want to achieve; together and for ourselves. And in the development of how we apply circular principles in our organisations, we learn from each other, we seek cooperation with each other and we are always prepared to share our knowledge, skills, facilities, contacts and experiences with members and others. We work on mutual trust and dare to speak our minds with each other because it makes us better. No one is bigger than the club; we may not be exactly the same as each other, but we are of equal value and wish each other success and want everyone to shine under the spotlight.
